The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the planned Stage 1 construction phase on the Arrigoni Bridge in Middletown and Portland.

This work is scheduled to begin March 30, 2020 with an anticipated completion date of December 7, 2020. 

Stage 1 construction consists of placing temporary precast concrete barrier curb (TPCBC) on Route 17 and Route 66 to begin construction on the two westbound lanes on the northern portion of the Arrigoni Bridge approach spans in Middletown and Portland. This will reduce the Arrigoni Bridge to one lane in each direction on the southern portion of the bridge. 

DOT Project Nos. 0082-0312 and 0082-0320 were awarded to Mohawk Northeast, Inc. as one contract at a cost of $46,289,385.04 on January 13, 2020 and is scheduled to be completed February 25, 2022.  This project is being administered by the Office of Construction, District 1 in Rocky Hill.

LANE CLOSURE INFO:

  • The two westbound lanes on the northern portion of the Arrigoni Bridge will be closed for construction.  This will reduce the Arrigoni Bridge to one lane in each direction on the southern portion of the bridge.
  • Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. 
  • Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity. ​
